This page assembles the "Names from the Alden
Microfilm Records" into families. Except where noted, the source for
this information is the
"Names from the Alden Microfilm Records" page.
On this page, I have converted most of the given names to English. For
example, I have changed Antonius to Anthony and Margareta to Margaret. I
have also standardized many of the surnames. For example, all variations
of Staebell are now spelled Staebell on this page.
This page includes all couples mentioned in a St. John's Catholic Church
baptism or marriage record up through 1870. After 1870, only selected
couples have been transcribed.

and is Run Down
- A sad and fatal accident occurred on Sunday morning at
about ten o'clock when Mr. George A. Staebell, a
life-resident of the town of Alden, who resided on the
Genesee road near Crittenden, was run down and fatally
injured by an automobile driven by Mr. H.J. Loos of Buffalo.
Mr. Staebell was returning home from
church at Crittenden and had been asked to ride in the car
with Mr. and Mrs. Haslinger and Mr. and Mrs. Martin,
neighbors. When they reached the home of Mr. Staebell, he
stepped from the running board of the car directly in the
path of the car driven by Mr. Loos, and was knocked down,
the car passing over his body. Mr. Loos immediately stopped
his car and assisted in getting Mr. Staebell in to his home.
A doctor was telephoned for and Dr. Warren Gipple responded,
and upon examination found that Mr. Staebell had three
broken ribs, a broken arm, a crushed chest and other
injuries, besides suffering a great physical shock.
Until a few minutes before his death the
sufferer was conscious of all that was transpiring.
George A. Staebell was born in the town of
Alden, April 21, 1861 and had always lived here. On October
7, 1885, he was united in marriage to Miss Monica Kocher. To
them were born nine children of whom only three survive him,
Edward C. of Akron, Herbert of Alden and Mrs. Clarence Russ
of Buffalo, also two brothers, Frank of Buffalo and Joseph
of Alden and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Adams of Lancaster and
Mrs. Denis Gleason of Buffalo, survive him. Mrs. Staebell
and the other members of the family have the sincere
sympathy of all in their bereavement.
Funeral services will be held from the
home Friday morning at 9:30 and from St. Patrick's Catholic
Church at Crittenden at 10 o'clock. Burial in the Crittenden
Catholic cemetery.
