  - Joseph Vögele, son of Johannes Voegele and of Catharina Meyer
  - Margaretha Götz, daughter of Mathis Götz and Margaretha Müllheissler
Is the Joseph Voegele who married Margaretha Goetz the same Joseph Voegele who married Maria Anna Uhry? There is no single document that links the same man to both marriages. But there is, in my opinion, compelling evidence to conclude that it is the same man:
- Margaretha Goetz (MG) died in 1794. Joseph married Maria Anna Uhry (MAU) in 1799. So the timing is right.
- MAU lived in house # 311 in Soufflenheim at the time she died in 1824. Joseph Voegele Junior (1790-1868), son of Joseph Voegele and MG, lived in house # 311 in Feb-1823.
- A 34-year old Joseph Voegele, who must be Joseph Voegele Junior (1790-1868), the son of Joseph Voegele and MG, is a witness on MAU's 1824 death certificate. He is identified as "the son of Joseph Voegele," which implies the son of MAU's husband Joseph.
- If Joseph the husband of MG is not the husband of MAU, then when did he die? There is no death record for him.
- The 1824 death record of MAU seems to say that MAU was Joseph's second wife, although my French is bad and I might be mistaken.
- The 04-Sep-1830 death record of Maria Anna Voegele, daughter of Joseph Voegele and MAU, has as a witness Joseph Voegele, age 42. This would be Joseph Voegele Junior (1790-1868), the son of Joseph Voegele and MG. He is described as the stepbrother of Maria Anna Voegele.
